What Does Your Web Design Include?
I build modern, professional websites that check all the boxes. Here’s what you can expect from every site I build:
After the build, I also offer hosting and maintenance packages.
What are the steps to designing a website?
Here’s the process we’ll follow to bring your website to life:
- Discovery – We begin with an interview or strategy meeting to define your goals, audience, and brand message.
- Research & Strategy – I’ll research your industry, competitors, and user needs, then present you with a tailored website strategy.
- Content Gathering & Design – Together, we’ll collect or create content (text, images, etc.), and I’ll begin designing the site.
- Development – I’ll build the site using clean, modern code and ensure all functionality is working smoothly.
- Revision – You’ll review the site, and we’ll make adjustments as needed.
- Testing – We’ll review the site on multiple devices to make sure everything looks and works as intended.
- Launch – Once you’re happy with the site, we’ll make it live!
- Training & Handover – I train you on how to update your site, manage content, and maintain its performance.
It depends on the complexity of the project, but usually this can be accomplished in about 4–6 weeks from start to finish.
What about content?
Do you offer content writing services?
Yes, I offer content writing services, or I can work with content you provide from a professional copy writer. Either way, we’ll ensure your website speaks directly to your target audience.
Design Styles & Branding
Your website should reflect your brand’s personality. Whether you’re a high-end spa needing a calming and luxurious design, or a vibrant creative professional looking for something bold and modern, I tailor the design to fit your business’s unique style.
Already have branding? Great! I’ll ensure your website aligns with your existing look and feel. If you don’t, I’ll help develop a professional visual identity that complements your business. This can include logo design and other graphic assets like brochures and business cards. Get in touch to ask more!
Can I update the website content myself?
Absolutely! After your site is launched, I provide training on how to make simple updates, such as blog posts or adding new products. If you need ongoing support, my maintenance packages include content updates.
As far as generating new content, regularly updating content on your site improves SEO. I can set up a blog on your site and we can brainstorm content ideas for it.
Tech Questions
What is the difference between a domain and hosting?
A domain is your website’s address (like www.powertotheweb.com), while hosting is the service that stores your website’s files and makes them accessible online. Think of your domain as your home address, and hosting as the land your house is built on. You need both to get your website online, and I can help guide you through registering your domain and selecting the right hosting plan for your needs.
I take care of the blueprints and building the house!
Why Do I Need Website Maintenance?
It’s just like doing updates on your phone or computer’s operating system. Regular maintenance keeps your site secure, fast, and functioning as intended, so you can focus on running your business.
What does maintenance include?
Website maintenance ensures that your site stays secure, up-to-date, and running smoothly. WordPress regularly releases updates, and so do the themes and plugins that give your site its unique functionality. Maintenance includes:
- Updating WordPress core, plugins, and themes to the latest versions
- Monitoring security and malware protection
- Regular site backups to prevent data loss
- Performance optimizations to ensure your site loads quickly
- Technical support for troubleshooting
By keeping your site current, I help protect it from vulnerabilities and ensure it continues to deliver a seamless experience for your visitors.
Regular maintenance keeps your site secure, fast, and functioning as intended, so you can focus on running your business.
Pro Tip: Protect Your Domain
How to Safely Search for Your Domain Name
When searching for an available domain name, avoid using search tools on web hosting sites like GoDaddy.
These platforms have a reputation for monitoring domain search queries and, in some cases, using them to acquire domains through affiliated corporations. Once they own the domain, they may try to sell it back to you at an inflated price. It’s a common and ethically questionable practice known as “domain front-running.”
To stay safe, it’s better to go straight to the source. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) manages domain names globally. Using ICANN’s lookup tool ensures your searches remain private and protected from third-party snooping.
If you see that the domain you want is available, don’t wait! Get in touch with me today for help registering, or go ahead and register it yourself.
What are your payment terms?
To get started, I typically require a 50% deposit. This helps ensure that you’re committed to your project and allows me to dedicate time and resources to its success.
Why do I require this?
When we work together, we’re like temporary business partners. I reserve specific time for your project, often turning down or rescheduling other jobs to focus on your site. Similarly, you’ll need to make time to collaborate with me—providing assets, meeting deadlines, and answering questions about your business. This ensures the project stays on track and delivers the best results.
Whether you’re providing content or I’m creating it, your input is essential. You’re the expert on your business and your customers, so your involvement is key to ensuring the site meets your needs and goals. That’s why I schedule projects at least a month out from the initial contract, giving you ample time to prepare.
Alternative Payment Plan
For clients who prefer not to pay 50% upfront, I offer a flexible payment plan:
- 25% deposit at the start of the project.
- Monthly automated payments for the remaining balance, spread out over 12 months.
- Requires 2 year contract for a maintenance package of your choice. You’ll also receive a discount of up to 50% off the first year of hosting.
This plan provides more financial flexibility, while still ensuring we stay on track with deadlines and deliver a high-quality site tailored to your needs.
Is there anything you don’t do?
Yes. I’m a jack of all trades when it comes to creating your website and prepping it for the world. I don’t extend my reach beyond that.
Here are services I don’t offer:
- Google Ads, Facebook Ads, or any other type of advertising
- Marketing
- Ongoing SEO strategies, sometimes called SEM (Search Engine Marketing)
- Working with amateur web designers and content writers
I can make recommendations for professionals to work with for these services. I’m happy to work with marketing professionals to change or update the site as needed, either under the terms of one of my maintenance packages, or at my hourly rate. I’m also happy to build your site and turn it over to you completely for maintenance and hosting.
Do you offer a guarantee?
My guarantee is that you will never be ghosted, left without knowing how to access your site or domain, or worst of all, find out that your domain registration was dropped and someone else bought it. I will always work with you to correct any errors on my part. I make no guarantee that your site will rank #1 in Google Search, or that your new site will make you a million bucks this year.
